The Great Difference Between Two Groups of People From Amongst the Muslims

Shaikh ‘Abdur-Rahmaan As-Sa’dee (rahimahullaah) said:

Allaah, The Most High said:

مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَمِنْهُم مَّن قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنتَظِرُ ۖ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا

((Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allaah, so among them is he who has fulfilled his obligation [of commitment] and among them is he who awaits, And they did not alter [in commitment] by any alteration.)) (Soorah Al-Ahzaab: 23)

This is a description of the men of the religion; that of: complete honesty in their covenant with Allaah by way of the fulfillment of His Religion and in encouragement of its people and aiding it with all that is within their ability to do so, this being by means of statements and through wealth and through the body – outwardly and inwardly.

From their description is absolute steadfastness upon bravery and patience, and the continuance in every means through which one can aid the religion.

So from them is he who strenuously devotes himself; and from them is he who generously bestows his wealth; and from them is he who motivates his fellow brothers in the fulfillment of everything possible from the matters of the religion. Likewise the one that endeavors between them with sincere advice and upholding mutual harmony and unity, and from them is he who invigorates by way of his statements and his influence and his situation. From them also is he who uniquely encompasses of all of that.

These are the men of the religion and the best of the Muslims; by way of them the religion was raised and with it they themselves were raised. They are the unshakable mountains in their Eemaan (faith) and their patience and their struggle. No obstructer repulses them from this quest, and no obstacle impedes them from traversing its path. The afflictions and calamities come successively upon them – and they encounter them with firm steadfast hearts and chests that are delighted – due to their knowledge of what is consequential of that from goodness, reward, prosperity and success.

As for the others – and they are the cowardly agitators, then they are in the very opposite state to them. You do not see any verbal, active physical or earnest assistance from them – miserliness and cowardliness and despair reigns over them. Amongst them is he who endeavors in order to thrust enmities, tribulations and divisions amongst the Muslims. This group is more harmful upon the Muslims than the evidently warring enemy, rather – they are the weapon of the enemies in reality.

He, The Most High said regarding them and their likes:

لَوْ خَرَجُوا فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلَّا خَبَالًا وَلَأَوْضَعُوا خِلَالَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ الْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّاعُونَ لَهُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِالظَّالِمِينَ

((Had they set out with you, they would not have increased you except in disorder, and they would have been swift among you [in spreading corruption] seeking [to cause] for you fitnah [tribulation], and among you are listeners to them, and Allaah is Knowing of the wrongdoers.)) (Soorah Tawbah: 47)

Meaning: that they respond to them inadvertently or through being deceived. So caution is due upon the Muslims from these corrupt doers, for indeed their harms are great and their evil is perilous – and how plentiful they are in these times.
